Az 61. Berlini Nemzetközi Filmfesztivál 2011. február 10. és 20. között került megrendezésre, a nyitófilm Tom Tykwertől A bűn árfolyama,[1] míg a zárófilm Costa-Gavrastól Az Éden nyugatra van volt.[2][3] A fesztivál zsűrielnöke Tilda Swinton brit színésznő volt.[4] Az Arany Medve díjat Claudia Llosa filmje, a Fausta éneke nyerte.[5] A fesztivál retrospektív programmja 70mm – Bigger than Life címen futott és az 1955 és 1970 közötti, a "70 mm-es filmek aranykorának" tekintett korszakból vetítettek filmeket.[6]
A fesztiválra összesen 270 ezer jegyet adtak el, ez volt a fesztivál addigi történetének legnagyobb jegyeladása.[7]

In addition, the festival held a place open in the jury for the imprisoned Iranian director Jafar Panahi, "to signalize its support for his struggle for freedom".[8]
