As a romanian I don't understand why the names of these villages are in hungarian. Their official names should be written in romanian. We are not living in the year 1900. We are living in the year 2008 and these villages have romanian names. Dear Emily007! The reason for this is the same, for which we call Wien Bécs, Paris Párizs, Beijing Peking, and so on. Some geographic names in the world have acquired Hungarian names, the language took them as quasi-Hungarian expressions for these geographical names, and this is used - as a rule - in the Hungarian Wikipedia. Besides all those said above: as a Romanian you should know that many of the Romanian localities have their Hungarian and German names too, which can officially be used in the local administration. Let's see some exemples in the Romanian Wiki, too: ro:Viena for Wien (Austria), ro:Debreţin, ro:Giula, ro:Seghedin, ro:Bichişciaba and ro:Macău, Ciongrad for Debrecen, Gyula (város), Szeged, Békéscsaba and Makó (Csongrád) (all in Hungary), etc. Although we are not in 1919.
