I'm the author of the new Wikiversity concept (Unipedia). I currently studying Computer Sciences and Engineering at the University of Pannonia.
In the following you can read a brief description of my idea:
The idea behind
I think mostly we need 3 key concepts to be mixed together to make a very useful, new generation knowledge base for any kind of schools.
I. Active Community
We need to reach each other as quick as possible.
Today students and even teachers mostly "living" on the internet. We both use-, or at least know facebook, twitter, etc.
We can utilize them to our own advantage, and create a blazing fast communication channel between the parties of Wikiversity.
II. Better content structuring
One of the biggest problem with studying process is that it's hard to see-through the knowledge during the process, and even later.
A mindmap like graph structuring can solve this problem, by ordering the contents into a graph like structure, with hard and soft links between the topics.
Every point(= topic) of the graph is a wiki page with the later described content templates.
Because our brain's right side is utilized when we take a look at such a mindmap, it's so much faster and easier to see-through, understand, organize those informations, in opposite with the linear "book" like method which only utilizes our left side of the brain.
III. Content templates for Wiki
A lot of people would volunteer to write content, but sometimes it's hard to compose the knowledge. Text templates could help to fill this writing skill gap.
Like: What this topic want's to tell us? How is it doing that? etc...
With this kind of templates, it can be easy for everyone to write down the things they know or currently studying.
