- Witchthrone is a Hungarian black metal band formed in 2019. The ensemble was founded by Gábor Bencsik (drums) and Árpád Németh (guitar). After the first rehearsals, they were joined by Gergely Boros (guitar) and Gergő Gerócs Gomez (vocals), and finally Judit Nemes (bass guitar). From the beginning, they played black metal mixed with other extreme metal music. Their first music video, Circle, was released on December 24th this year. At the end of 2019, Judit Nemes left the band and was replaced by Ádám Péczi.
- In the first half of 2020, another video entitled Shallow was released, which pushed the boundaries of black metal even more, and as a result, metal.hu offered a contract to release the first album.
- In the second half of 2020, two more videos were released, entitled “Failing Conscience” and “Horns,” which were further pioneers in black metal music.
- Aside from a few live concerts, in 2021 the band was inactive. Gomez (vocals) left the band in December.
- In January 2022, Gábor Bencsik and Ádám Bogyó (Beerzebub) founded the Stygian Circle DIY record label, the first edition of which is a Witchthrone / Ventar split of 12 vinyls, limited to 50 copies. It is also the band's first release. The publication previously agreed with metal.hu will be published in April this year.
