A **QME** (Qualified Medical Evaluator) is a medical professional certified to assess work-related injuries in the workers' compensation system in the United States, particularly in California. The QME provides independent evaluations of an employee's medical condition when there is a dispute between the employee, employer, or insurance company regarding the nature or extent of the injury, the need for treatment, or the level of disability.
A QME’s role is to offer an impartial medical opinion that helps determine the benefits or compensation the injured worker may be entitled to under workers' compensation law.
