A katonai stratégia egy sor katonai szervezet által végrehajtott elgondolás, melyek célja a stratégiai célok elérése. A szó a görög sztratégosz szóból származik, melynek jelentése a görög nyelvben tábornok. A 18-ik században a szó szűkebb értelmet kapott: "a tábornokok művészete", vagy más szóval 'a csapatok elhelyezésének művészete. A
